Conclusion Post

I liked the class a lot. I was able to learn a lot of new things that will hopefully help me in English 2010. I liked our subject and it was really able to find lots of information about all of the conversations around it because there is s much technology around us right now. My favorite part of the class was when we went into small groups and discussed about the readings we did and the different topics that were given to us. When I was in the small groups, I was able to share with others more easily than when we were discussing as a whole class. I think that I could have participated more with the class than I did. I kind of just sat there quiet most of the time and when we had discussions I would just listen, but when we were in small groups I was able to somewhat participate. I learned a lot to help make my writing better.
I didn't know about passive and active sentences before the class and I tried to use a lot more active sentences in my essays and class writings to get more information out and get rid of the fluff. I also learned that I should not use you in my essays which I had been using quite a lot in all of my writings. On my next two essays I was able to get rid of all the you's. I put a lot in, but when I went back, I got rid of all of them and replaced them with different words. I think I would have liked to learn more about reading, but we didn't really have time in our class to read a book and talk about it. The moving of the deadlines helped me a lot by giving me enough time to give my essays the touch ups that I wanted. I think that with all the new things I learned I will be able to be successful in my next college English class and my high school English class too.

Millions of animals every year are forced to be subjects in testing which leads to lots pain for results that may or may not be helpful. Animal testing is cruel and inhumane; however, sometimes it is needed for medical research and other tests that can help save lives. Animals are also tested with commercial products, so that people can profit from their product. Sometimes these tests will not be very reliable because some of the animals tested are very different from animals such as rats and mice. Now with our improved technology there are also better ways for us to test such as testing on human cells so that we get results that will apply to humans. Animals suffer when subjected to these tests and sometimes die for researches to gain some information. I think that animal testing should be a little more restricted and only be used when really needed. When there are things that have the chance to cure diseases and save lives then I think that it is okay to test. but if they are being tested on something like beauty products, I don't think that should be allowed.

My first semester of college is finally over, and I think that I did pretty well in all of my classes. I struggled a bit in my zoology class when I got sick and had to miss a few classes, but I was able to catch back up in the class and get my grades back up. I was able to keep up with the pace of all the classes even though it was so different than high school. Hopefully next semester I can do the same because the classes I have next semester will be a lot more difficult. I also have to go to high school classes in addition to my college classes. I was able to do these classes without too much difficulty in the summer because I have a lot of free time, but during the fall I will be a lot more busy. It is a good thing that my classes during the fall aren't compressed like the ones in the summer, or it would be a lot harder for me to keep up with all of my classes.

Journal 12 - The Future of Your Topic

I think that most people are only thinking about the benefits and drawbacks of online courses and few factors which affect them. However, people are not thinking of the small factors which can effect the differences between online and traditional classrooms such as different learning styles. They don't think about the side effects of the class or how they will be affected by them in the future. They only think that right now they are bad or good and don't think about how they will be in the future. Online classes can also be taught differently with different programs, not just on a website with videos and tutorials like many of the researchers assume.

No Technology Classwork

If there was a no technology week, I don't think I would do very good/ I would probably be okay without a phone, but I would probably use my laptop or television. I have to do a lot of school work on my computer and there is really nothing for me to do without it. I can go outside for a few hours, but there is a lot of time in the day. It is summer right now and I can drive yet, so I am pretty much at home most of the time. During the fall of spring I would probably be able to last a week of no technology, not counting school stuff.

Argumentative Essay Thesis

Online courses should be considered just as good of a way of learning as learning in a traditional classroom, resulting in more classes and enrollment thinks to the convenience of online classes.
